Family constellation for families in Gangtok

Family constellation helps you look at how the people in a family stand in relation to one another, which can bring buried loyalties and tensions into view. Dr. Riddhe Sshilpi holds one-to-one online sessions for people in Gangtok, using household objects to represent relatives, so you work privately and nobody else must be present.

Setting out your situation in front of the camera

You choose whom you want to look at. Each person is represented by an object, arranged on a table or the floor in front of your camera. Dr. Riddhe asks you to notice how the arrangement feels, adjusts positions with you and asks gentle questions, moving at the pace you set.

People come with a strained relationship with a parent, a sibling who has gone silent, in-law tensions, or a death that has never been talked through. Relatives are not required to join, no follow-up is expected of them, and you can end the session whenever you wish.

Session formats

How family constellation sessions are offered

  • One-to-one, online

Just you and Dr. Riddhe on video, with everyday objects representing family members.

  • Group sessions in person

Other participants stand in for family members. Held in person in Mumbai.

  • No family attendance needed

You attend on your own; the family system is represented in the session.

  • Reflective, not therapy

It does not diagnose or treat; it can sit alongside professional support.

Families spread across the hills and the plains

Many Sikkimese families are spread out: parents in Gangtok or in a village home, children in Siliguri, Kolkata, Delhi or abroad for work, and ties to ancestral land and to the community's festivals pulling everyone back. Distance can leave things unsaid between generations.

An online session fits this pattern well, because you can take part wherever you are and need not gather the family. A person working far from home, or one who has come back to look after parents, can use the time to see their own role more clearly.

Where constellation work stops

Family constellation is not therapy, medical treatment or crisis support. If you feel very distressed, please contact a qualified professional or helpline first. Group sessions are held in person in Mumbai only, so for Gangtok the one-to-one online format applies.

Simple & clear

How the object-based online session works

  1. 1

    Book a session

One-to-one online by video, or in person in Mumbai. Group sessions are held in Mumbai.

  2. 2

    Name the theme

Describe the family pattern or relationship you want to look at, briefly and at your own pace.

  3. 3

    Guided constellation

The family is represented with objects or participants, and the relationships are explored step by step.

  4. 4

    Time to reflect

You take away perspectives to think about. It is reflective work, not therapy or treatment.

Choosing one situation to explore

Pick a time when the house is quiet and you have no appointments afterwards. Set up a table or clear floor in view of the camera and gather small, distinct objects. Jot down the people you wish to look at and what you hope to understand, then keep the paper nearby.

Questions & answers

Family constellation questions from Gangtok

Have a different question? Ask Dr. Riddhe’s team. There is no obligation to book.

I look after my parents in Gangtok while my siblings live elsewhere. Can constellation help?

It can help you see your own position and feelings in that arrangement, and how each sibling stands in relation to you. It will not change anyone else's behaviour, but may bring clarity about what you want next.

Do my relatives in other cities need to know about my Gangtok session?

No. The work is only between you and Dr. Riddhe. Relatives are represented by objects, and nobody needs to be informed. What you share with them afterwards is entirely your choice.

Can I use a family photo instead of objects in a Gangtok session?

Objects usually work better because they can be moved freely. You may keep a photo nearby for reference, but let each person be represented by a separate item such as a cup, a coin or a small stone.

Is family constellation in Gangtok the same as counselling for grief?

No. It is a reflective method and not therapy, medical treatment or crisis support. A person facing intense grief should speak to a qualified counsellor, and may later use constellation as a gentle, additional way of reflecting.
