A great deal of Hyderabad's housing is new: gated communities and high-rise towers in Gachibowli, Kondapur, Kokapet, Tellapur and Narsingi, villa projects on the city's edges, and open plots in layouts that are still being built. That makes it a city where Vastu is often considered at the planning stage, before construction or interiors are finished.

When a property is still on paper, there is room to decide where the entrance, kitchen, puja room, bedrooms and staircase should go. A consultation at this stage works from the architect's drawings and the plot orientation, so changes cost far less than they would after the building is complete.
