Vastu consultation for properties in Jowai
Jowai, the headquarters of West Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya, sits on rolling upland beside the Myntdu river, with buildings stepping along slopes and roadsides. Dr. Riddhe Sshilpi studies such properties remotely, starting from a plan and a compass reading, and frames her suggestions around how the building is really lived in.
Small, reversible changes before big ones
A Vastu review looks at how a property relates to the directions: where the entrance opens, how rooms are arranged behind it and whether kitchens, stores and sleeping spaces sit comfortably in the plan. It is a perspective you may choose to use, and it sits alongside your own judgement and your builder's advice.
Dr. Riddhe prefers to begin with light changes, such as giving a room another use, moving a work table or clearing a crowded store. Structural alterations are not her opening step. No review can promise a specific outcome; what it aims for is a layout that feels orderly and workable.
Terraced plots and family homes in the Jaintia Hills
Buildings around Jowai commonly combine concrete frames with tin or sheet roofs, and many houses are built on terraced plots cut into the hillside. Alongside family homes there are shops near the market and bus stands, small guest houses, schools and workshops, and the road to Shillong and towards Assam keeps trade moving.
In Pnar households the youngest daughter traditionally inherits family property, so questions about a family house often involve several relatives and the plan that suits everyone. People also ask about a ground-floor shop beneath a home. The online route is simple: plot sketch, door reading, photographs and a video walkthrough.
Slope stability and heavy monsoon rain
Jowai receives heavy monsoon rain, and slopes can be unstable. Retaining walls, drainage and a firm foundation take precedence over any directional preference, and Dr. Riddhe's suggestions are meant to sit comfortably inside sound construction, not push against it.
Other consultations available in Jowai
Residential Vastu Consultation
Flats, bungalows and row houses, for owners who are buying, moving in or living with a layout that does not feel right. The review covers the entrance, kitchen, bedrooms, the centre of the home and how each room is used, and recommendations start with placement, colour and use of rooms rather than demolition.
Commercial Vastu Consultation
Offices, shops, showrooms, clinics, factories and warehouses. The consultation looks at the entrance, seating and working areas, storage and, for industrial sites, the plot and production flow, often together with the owner’s architect or plant engineer.

Getting ready for the Vastu review
Prepare a sketch of the plot showing the road, the slope and each building, plus a plan of the main house if you have one. Stand in the doorway facing out and take a compass reading, then photograph every room. Dr. Riddhe studies the material before the video call; a visit can be discussed if a project needs it.

Jowai Vastu questions answered
Can a terraced house in Jowai be assessed without anyone visiting?
Generally yes. A plan or sketch with the slope and road marked, a door compass reading, room photographs and a video walkthrough give enough to read the layout. A visit can be discussed for complex projects.
Our family house is shared among several relatives. Can the review include everyone?
Yes. Dr. Riddhe can join a video call with more than one family member, so that questions about rooms and shared spaces are discussed together and suggestions suit the household as a whole.
Does a ground-floor shop below our home get reviewed separately?
Both are read as one building. Share the shop layout, the stairs and the house plan, and the advice will cover the till, stock area and how the two parts connect.
Does Vastu clash with the faith we follow in Jowai?
No. Vastu is an optional way of reading a building, and nothing in a consultation asks you to alter your beliefs. You decide what, if anything, to take from it.
