Vastu consultation for homes and shops in Marseille

Marseille is a port city on the Mediterranean, where hillside villas, shuttered apartment blocks and harbour-front shops all face the sea in different ways. Dr. Riddhe Sshilpi, a Vastu consultant based in Vile Parle West, Mumbai, reviews such properties online, so no one needs to travel to France.

Practical corrections ranked by effort

You begin by gathering a floor plan or sketch, a compass bearing taken at the main door, and photographs of each room, the balcony and the entrance. Dr. Riddhe sets these against the directions and the five elements, noting where cooking, sleeping, study and living areas fall, and how the main door sits.

She will ask how the home runs through the day, since a drawing shows walls and not habits. Her suggestions start with changes that need no tools, such as moving furniture or giving a room a new role. Structural ideas come up only when a layout leaves nothing else, and they remain optional.

Harbour-side flats, hillside villas and wind-facing balconies

Much of the city is built on hills sloping toward the sea, and the coast lies to the west of the old harbour. Apartments in the Vieux-Port area, the Panier and Noailles are often old and irregular, while the Corniche Kennedy and the eighth arrondissement have larger flats with sea views. Le Corbusier's Cité Radieuse in the ninth is a famous example of vertical living.

Outside the centre, villas and bastides spread toward the Calanques and the northern suburbs. Many people also run shops, workshops or logistics firms linked to the port and the Euroméditerranée district. Marseille keeps French time, so India is four and a half hours ahead in winter and three and a half in summer; the team sets the hour with you.

Shutters, balconies and the wind

The Mistral, a strong cold wind from the north-west, and the summer sun make shutters and balconies central to Marseille homes. Dr. Riddhe notes how your openings face the sea and the wind when she discusses placement.
